James Arnold Dorsey

James Arnold Dorsey, 77, of Groves, passed away Sunday, June 6, 2021, at Heritage House in Groves. James was born May 5, 1944, in Charleston, West Virginia to Arnold and Isabelle Dorsey.

James graduated from college with a Bachelor’s degree in English. Later he would enlist in the United States Air Force where he would proudly serve his country for several years.

James was a quite person with a gentle soul. He had a passion for helping others and making new friends. He was a member of Faith Harbor Assembly of God.

James was preceded in death by his parents, Arnold L. Dorsey, Jr. and Isabelle Frances Dorsey.

Those left behind to cherish James’ memory are his sister, Lynne Parker and her husband, T.J. of Nederland, TX; niece, Jo Bent and her husband, Jason and their children, Emily Bent, Evan Bent and Eli Bent.

A gathering of friends and family will be held from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 9, 2021, at Melancon’s Funeral Home in Nederland. A graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m., Wednesday, June 9, 2021, at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches, with Pastor Ken Bent, officiant.

He was surely a quiet, sweet soul. So kind. Always at church and ready to shake a hand. You could tell he loved the Lord. Im so glad he is no longer in any pain. He is happy as can be with his loved ones and Jesus most of all.
