James Daniel Garrett, Jr., 63, joined his Heavenly Father on Friday, August 5, 2022, at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont. Daniel was born on October 9, 1958, in Port Arthur, Texas to James Daniel Garrett, Sr. and Loretta (Dugas) Davis.
Daniel was a member of Agape Church in Groves. He was a faithful man who loved the Lord, his family and church. Daniel delighted in serving the Lord with his brothers and sisters at Agape. Daniel had a good sense of humor with a funny personality. He enjoyed bike riding and collecting coins; he loved old westerns especially John Wayne movies and also watching Gun Smoke on TV. He loved studying and listening to God’s word and did his best to live it in his life. Daniel was a wonderful role model and will be truly missed by those who loved him.
Daniel was preceded in death by his mother, Loretta Dugas Davis; father, James Daniel Garrett, Sr., stepfather, Gerald Davis; sister, Darla Garrett Copeland.
Those left behind to cherish Daniel’s memory are his loving wife of forty years, Anna Garrett of Port Arthur, TX; his children, James Daniel Garrett, III and his wife, Christina; Samuel Joseph Garrett and his wife, Melinda; Rachel Garrett; Christel Ferguson and her husband, Gavin; grandchildren, Cassidy Cooper, Alyssa Cooper, Sage Monson, Caden Norris, Conner Ferguson, Madison Ferguson, Jonathan Garrett, Isaac Garrett, Ethan Garrett, Olive Garrett, Peyton Garrett, Landon Garrett; and adopted with love, granddaughter, Zana Tatum. Daniel also leaves behind his brother, Robert Davis and his wife, Christine; nieces, Brandy Miller and her husband, Brent; Makahla Davis, Katelynn Davis and Emma Davis; nephew, David Lundine, great nieces Breana Hensley and Haleigh Lemaire and great nephew Anthony Lemaire , step mother Linda Garrett and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins and his beloved church family and friends.
A gathering of family and friends will be held Friday, August 12, 2022 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at Melancon’s Funeral Home in Nederland. A Celebration of Daniel’s Life will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 13, 2022, at Melancon’s Funeral Home. Daniel’s wishes were to be cremated and will take place following the service.
