James Cosby Gay, 79, of Nederland, Texas, passed away on Sunday, October 22, 2017, in Port Arthur. James was born on February 26, 1938, in Port Arthur to the late John Bryant Gay and Mary Elizabeth Downes Gay. He was a lifelong resident in this area. James loved hunting, fishing, watching old western movies and being in nature.

Those left to cherish James’s memories are his loving wife of 54 years, Mary Linda Gay of Nederland; daughters, Denise White and husband, Aaron of Port Neches and Danielle Stinson and husband, Jonah of Nederland; brother, John “J.B.” Gay, II. and wife, Shirley of Willis, TX; grandchildren, Victoria Elizabeth White, Zachary Aaron White and Blake Colin Stinson; nephew, John B. Gay, III. James is preceded in death by his parents.

There will be a gathering of family and friends on Friday, October 27, 2017, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at Melancon’s Funeral Home in Nederland. The funeral service will be on Saturday, October 28, 2017, at 10:00 a.m., officiated by Pastor John “J.B.” Gay, II., also at the funeral home, with the interment at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves.

Those serving as Pallbearers are Jonah Stinson, Blake Stinson, Aaron White, Zachary White, Johnny Gay and Neil Butaud.
