James "J. D." Dewitt Chester

December 20, 1927 — October 22, 2012

J. D. Chester, 84, of Vidor, Texas passed away October 22, 2012 at his home. He was born on December 20, 1927 in Nederland, Texas to the late Marvin D. and Ioma Butchee Chester. He retired from Sun Oil Company where he was a service contractor and was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Nederland. J. D. served his country proudly in the U. S. Navy. He was a member of the Nederland Masonic Lodge 1368 for over 50 years and also a member of the Shriners where he received his 50 year pin. He attended Lamar University in Beaumont and graduated from Baylor University in Waco with a BS degree in Business.Funeral services will be held at Melancons Funeral Home in Nederland on Friday, October 26, 2012 at 11:00 a.m., Rev. Ernest Brown officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Thursday from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.J. D. is survived by his wife, Dell Chester of Vidor daughters, Rebecca Chester of Houston and Joanna Aimonetti and husband, Dave of Plano son, James D. Chester, II of Victoria sister, Eileen Newman of Nederland and granddaughter, Isabella Aimonetti.The family would like to especially thank his caregivers, Odyssey Hospice and Nellie Steele.
