James "Jimmy" Jackson

James Richard Jackson James "Jimmy" Jackson, 78, of Port Neches, Texas passed away Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at his home surrounded by his loving family after a very courageous three year and nine month battle with pancreatic cancer. Jimmy was born September 30, 1936 in Beaumont, Texas to Albert Jackson and Hattie Durdin Jackson. He was a 1955 graduate of French High School and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Lamar University in 1961. He began his forty-year long engineering career at Neches Butane and retired from Huntsman. He is a member of the United Methodist Temple, serving as an usher and in Methodist Men, and a member of the Wesley Sunday School Class. Jimmy served his country in the US Army and US Army Reserves. Jimmy enjoyed playing golf and fishing, but most of all he loved spending time with his family and friends. Jimmy is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Mary Jo Smith Jackson, his three children and their spouses: Greg and Lynn Jackson, Lisa and Jim Arisco and Cindy Courts and Tim Porter all of Port Neches; grandchildren, Lauren Arisco, Ashley and Josh Russell, Haleigh Courts, and Hunter Courts; great-grandsons, Peyton and Jackson James Russell; and sister, Dean Spencer and husband Gary. The family would like to thank three special angels: Felicia, Consuella, and Carolyn that took extraordinary care of Jimmy. Visitation for family and friends will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, March 12, 2015 at Levingston Funeral Home in Port Neches. Funeral services will be held Friday, March 13, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the United Methodist Temple with Judge Jeff Branick officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the United Methodist Temple, 4101 Hwy 73, Port Arthur, Texas 77642 or the charity of your choice.
