James "Jim" Elton Chiasson

James "Jim" Elton Chiasson, 85, of Port Neches, Texas passed away on Monday, June 17, 2024, in Beaumont, Texas.

Jim was born on October 12, 1938, in Sulphur, Louisiana to Velma and Elton Chiasson. Throughout his forty years of service, Jim touched the lives of many students at Bridge City Elementary School, Nederland Middle School, Lamar Port Arthur, and Nederland High School. His passion for teaching left a lasting impact on the educational community. 

Aside from his professional endeavors, Jim had a zest for life. He found solace in fishing excursions and the thrill of racetracks. One of his simple pleasures was watching episodes of Jeopardy. 

In mourning his departure, Jim leaves behind a loving legacy. He is survived by his devoted wife Betty Marcell Chiasson of Port Neches. His children Adria Stephen and her husband Stephen of Nederland, Shana Smith of Port Neches, Pamela Smith of Palestine, and Cliff Chiasson of Port Neches will fondly remember him as a caring father. Additionally, he is survived by his grandchildren Rachel Benoit and Laura Kreuger, as well as great-grandchildren Ava Armstrong, Anslie Lee, Darron Malone, Laylah Kreuger, and Jade Riley. His sister Joan Geoffroy of Port Neches also cherishes Jim's memory.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents Velma (Judice) Chiasson and Elton Chiasson. Their spirits are reunited with his in peaceful eternity.

James "Jim" Elton Chiasson will be remembered not only for his dedication to shaping young minds but also for his joyful spirit and love for life. May he rest in eternal peace knowing that he made a positive difference in the lives he touched.

Cremation services are under the direction of Melancon Levingston Funeral Home in Port Neches.

Mr. Chiasson was a great teacher at NHS. I don't know how I would have gotten through math class without his guidance. He had a very gentle spirit and was truly a great educator. He will be missed.

Dearest Joan, I’m so sorry for your loss and for the rest of the family, too. Jimmy, as I knew him, was a delightful man to know. An exemplary Christian. So sorry I won’t be able to make his funeral or rosary. I haven’t lived in Pt. Neches since 1991.
