James "Jim" Snell, 84, of Port Arthur, Texas passed away on November 2nd, having fulfilled Gods purpose for his life on this earth, and leaving behind his family and a host of friends whose lives were enriched because he lived among us. Born February 28th, 1935 in Beaumont, Texas, Jim was a lifelong Port Arthur resident and a member of Park Central Church of Christ. He established Jim Snell Master Plumber in 1965, and had recently passed the torch to his son and grandson. Jim was a member of the Port Arthur Rotary Club for over 50 years, 35 of which he achieved perfect attendance. He was a member of the Barbershop Quartet Society for over 50 years. Jim always enjoyed singing, whether barbershop harmony or gospel quartet, or as a frequent song leader at his church. He belonged to both the Harmony Exporters and the Houston Tidelanders Barbershop choruses for over 50 years combined, which gave he and Patsy opportunity to make great friends, while performing all across the great USA that he loved. His lifelong love of boating led he and Patsy to many great adventures, covering the waterways from South Texas to New York City, plus The Bahamas. He was very skilled in woodwork, creating beautiful items for all of his family, and many enhancements to his antique wooden boats. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 5th, 2019 at Park Central Church of Christ with Mr. Dale LeBlanc officiating. A visitation for family and friends will follow the service from 3:00 pm to 4:30 pm at the church. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Robert L. Snell and Marion Simonsen Snell, and his daughter, Jeanette Pie. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Patsy Snell of Port Arthur, daughter Mikie Robinson and husband Malcolm of Tomball, TX, his son, Perry Snell and wife Joci of Port Arthur, TX, son-in-law Charles Pie of St. Petersburg, FL, brother, John Snell and wife Greta of Crystal Beach, TX, and grandchildren, Jeremy Snell, Rachel Snell, Renee Guengerich, and Corey Pie, and 6 great-grandchildren.
