James “Jimmy” King, Sr. died peacefully surrounded by his beloved family. He fought many courageous battles in his life, but in the end illness robbed his family of his body but not his spirit. The Lord called him home from the house he was born next door to and where he raised his own family. He proudly graduated from Port Neches Groves in 1957 and went on to work as a painting supervisor. A jack of many trades, his favorites were working on race cars and fixing anything the kids or grandkids needed.
Jimmy’s loves in life were his family, racing, and fishing. The legacy he leaves will live through our children and grandchildren. He taught us that “Anything worth doing is worth doing right” and he did his life “Right” walking in the light of the LORD. He was a long time member of Southside Baptist Church and a member of the Senior Men’s Sunday School Class.
Jimmy is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Ophelia. He is also survived by his son, James “Jim” King Jr. and wife Lucine of Spring; his son, Gary King and wife, Cindy of Port Neches; grandchildren, Heather King, Tyler King and fiancé Nicole, Trenton King, and Logan King; brother, Leon King and wife, Billie of San Antonio; and sister, Marvel Storey of Lumberton. He also leaves grand dogs, Zoie, Angel, and Bailey; and great-grand dog, Minnie.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Olivia King and sister, Grace Wallace.
The family would like to give special Thanks to nieces, Brenda Patton and Gayle Westmoreland for their continued support. We would also like to give special Thanks for all the family and friends who offered support and prayers during this time.
