James F. Laing, 75, of Port Arthur, Texas passed away Friday, July 26, 2013 at Harbor Hospice in Beaumont, Texas. James was born July 5, 1938 in Port Arthur, Texas to Henry Laing and Grace Langdon Laing. He was a lifelong Port Arthur resident and retired from the U.S. Post Office as a mail handler after 42 years of service. He was also a member of the National Guard. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Robert Laing. Survivors include his wife, Liz Laing of Port Arthur, TX; daughter, Sheila Atkinson of Port Neches, TX; step-daughters, Michele Burks and husband Rob of Lane, SC, and Melody Oliva of Tampa, FL; grandchildren, Dustin, Ann, Ashley, Aaron, Michael, Mallori, Christina, Nicole, Kelly, Travis, Jamie, Ashley S. and Cole; ten great-grandchildren and niece, Shawna Laing. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Sunday evening from 3:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m. at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, July 29, 2013 at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves with Reverend Janelle Hanks and Reverend Keith Dennis officiating. Graveside burial will be at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 30, 2013 in Longview Cemetery in Big Foot, Texas.
