James Norwood "Latch" Latiolais

James Norwood "Latch" Latiolais, 94, formerly of Groves, Texas died Monday, February 10, 2014. Norwood was born October 19, 1919 in Sulphur, Louisiana to Alexandre Latiolais and Ella Matte Latiolais. He was a resident of this area since 1923 and a retired Pipefitter/Welder at Arco with 30 years of service and a member of Pipefitters Local #195. He was a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Port Neches and a charter member of Groves Knights of Columbus #3491. He was also a WWII US Army Veteran. Norwood was preceded in death by his wife, Ethel D. Latiolais, son, James N. Latiolais, Jr. sister, Edith Latiolais, brothers, Emery Latiolais and Andrew Latiolais. Surviving relatives include his daughters, Mona Rae Fletcher and husband Darrell of Groves, Texas and Donna Sue Latiolais and husband Huey of Bridge City, Texas; sons, Denny Latiolais and wife Merri of Bridge City, Texas; Tim Latiolais and wife Lynn of Bridge City, Texas; daughter-in-law, Connie Latiolais of Groves, Texas; 22 grandchildren and 35 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, February 14, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church with Reverend Monsignor Bennie Patillo officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park. Visitation for family and friends will be held Thursday, February 13, 2014 from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. with a Rosary Service to begin at 7:00 p.m. recited by Reverend Steve Leger at Levingston Funeral Home in Port Neches.

I wish condolences to all my cousins. Uncle Norwood was a strong, gentle man. He is now with his beloved wife, parents, brothers, sister, Jimmy, and his niece Lynda (my mother). I salute his service to our country during World War Two. May God bless all of you.
