James Russell Lowrey, Jr., 72, of The Woodlands passed away Thursday, February 19, 2015. James was born September 25, 1942 in Port Arthur, Texas to James Russell Lowrey and Gola Lowrey. He grew up in Groves and Port Arthur, Texas. As a member of the First Baptist Church of Groves, from infancy, he loved Vacation Bible School in the summer. Animals of all kinds were his second love. He had everything from wild Mallard ducks and ducklings to Shetland ponies, growing up. James helped his father build a 16 foot fiberglass football, and baseball were among his favorite things as an adult. He resided in Beaumont, Richmond, and briefly in The boat and he enjoyed fishing at Crystal Beach and Galveston Bay many times. Gardening, dirt biking, Woodlands, Texas later in life. Survivors include his mother, Gola Lowrey of The Woodlands; two sisters, Patricia Lowrey Johnson and husband Troy, of Spring, and Pamela Lowrey Latiolais of Tomball; Great Aunt Anna Sue Parkinson of Harrison, Arkansas and numerous cousins. James was a wonderful son, brother, and uncle. He had two nieces and two nephews, Sherry Pickert and husband David; Jayson Johnson and wife Kelly; Trevor Latiolais and wife Jamie; and Kindell Lopez and husband Adam. James adored his grand nieces and nephews Jaclynn Zimowski and husband Joseph; Weston Johnson and wife Peytan; Sabrina and Angela Pickert; and Fallon, Asher, and Shaylee Lopez. The Lowrey family acknowledges the dedication and kindness of the staff at St. Giles Living Center in Beaumont and Richmond, Texas for making James many years loving and purposeful. We also give our love to the Heart to Heart Hospice in The Woodlands, Texas. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 28, 2015 at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves, Texas with Reverend Jimmy Robbins officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
