James T. Mitchell, 68, of Port Neches, passed away Sunday, May 25, 2014 at Harbor Hospice in Beaumont. James was born September 28, 1945 in Orange to the late T I Mitchell and Lydia Perkins and lived in Port Neches since 1977. James was retired from Valero as a Senior Financial Analyst with 15 years of service.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 2 PM on Thursday, May 29, 2014 at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Port Neches with Rev. Shane Baxter officiating. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves under the direction of Melancon’s Funeral Home in Nederland. A gathering of the family and friends will be from 5 to 8 PM on Wednesday, May 28, 2014 with a Knights of Columbus Rosary to be recited at 6 PM at the funeral home.

James is survived by his wife Charlene Mitchell of Port Neches; son, Bryan and his wife Holly of Richardson; grandsons, Luke Mitchell, and Ty Mitchell; sister Andria Anderson and her husband George of Port Arthur; mother-in-law, Theresa Suire and her husband Allen of Groves; sister-in-law, Karen Mills and her husband Terry of Hemphill; brother-in law, Gene Landry and his wife Ann of Port Neches; nephews, Jared Mills of Hemphill, and Seth Anderson and his wife Carol of North Carolina; nieces, Ashley Landry of Houston, and Keli Zimmerman of Mauriceville. He is preceded in death by his parents.

Charlene and family, Doug and I were so sorry to hear of James passing. We enjoyed your visit last summer with us in Colorado and were looking forward to another visit from you all. James was such a wonderful person. We just know he is resting and rejoicing in Heaven with our Lord and all family and friends who have gone before.
