James Edward Nobles, 77, of Port Neches, passed away Wednesday, May 25, 2016, at his home. James was born January 19, 1939, in Port Neches, to Edward Ray and Fannie Belle Nobles. He was a lifelong resident of Mid-County. James was a 1957 graduate of Port Neches-Groves High School, and a 1969 graduate of Lamar University where he received a Bachelor of Administration Degree in Business. James worked in Marketing for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company in Beaumont, and then for ATT, having served 24 years. He began work for the Internal Revenue Service in 1985 and retired after 15 years' service. James gave his heart to Jesus in a Revival service at Central Baptist Church in Port Neches, at the age of 11. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Port Neches where he actively served as a Deacon and Choir member. James was a devoted servant of the Lord Jesus Christ and loved God's Word, faithfully teaching the Adult 5 Sunday School Class, The Peacemakers, for more than 25 years. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 31, 2016, at 10:30 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Port Neches with the Reverend Byron Talbot officiating. Graveside services will be at 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at Huntington Odd Fellows Cemetery in Huntington, Texas. Visitation for family and friends will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday, May 30, 2016 at Levingston Funeral Home in Port Neches. James was preceded in death by his parents and his wife of 51 years, Judy Nobles. Surviving relatives include his daughters Margie Nobles of Beeville, Texas; Susan Domingue and husband Larry of Dayton, Texas; Natalie Talbot and husband Byron of Madisonville, Tennessee; and son Robert Nobles and wife Kimberly of Port Neches; and a sister, Kathy Davis-Reid of Norman, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Jaymi Brough, Kyrie Licon and husband Allen, Brandon Domingue and wife Jodi, Justin Domingue, Kevin Domingue, Lewis Talbot, Alex Talbot, Marcus Nobles, Jaxon Nobles, and Robyn Nobles; great grandson, Evan Domingue, and several nieces and nephews and other extended family. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Soup and Shelter Club of the Salvation Army of Port Arthur, P.O. Box 299, Kountze, Texas 77625-0299.

I just found out today about James promoting to Glory. I am so sorry for your loss. I worked with James at the IRS during his career there. He was a great guy and true Christian.

I worked with James Nobles at the IRS. I will never forget the man who spoke softly & laughed loudly. A lot of wisdom (both business and spiritual). A great teacher. My prayers go out to the family during this time.

James was a beloved member of the whole Thompson clan. He will be missed. He was a great brother-in-law to me. He married myself and my wife(Susan).We will always be grateful for this.
