James M. Peck, Jr., 90, of Port Arthur passed away on Saturday, March 29, 2014 at Magnolia Manor in Groves. He was born on December 13, 1923 to the late James Mayo Peck, Sr. and Johanna Berindina Van Unen Peck.
Jim retired from DuPont Beaumont Works as a Process Operator working in the Nordel Unit for 25 years. He moved to Lake Sam Rayburn and enjoyed fishing and gardening. He loved to travel with Good Sam, Y Ruf It, and the Piney Woods Sams. Jim proudly served the U.S. Army, attaining the rank of Sergeant, and was a Merchant Marine.
Funeral services will be held at Melancon’s Funeral Home in Nederland on Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at 2:00 p.m., with Rev. Jim Lea officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Tuesday, April 1, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Jim is survived by his wife, Lucille Peck; children, Denise Peck, Theresa Barba and Jay Peck; step-children, Gene and his wife, Ruth Mobley; Bob and his wife, Christie Mobley; Art and his wife, Gayle Mobley; Debbie and her husband, Pat Sonnier; Cecil and his wife, Charollette Barnes; Mike and his wife, Donna Mobley; 15 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; brother and sister-in-law, Albert and Amy Peck; and step-sons, Tom and Larry Mobley.
