James Edgar Penry, 86, of Port Neches, Texas passed away June 9, 2019. He was born in Chester, Texas on January 27, 1933 to the late Ilee Penry and Maggie Tullos Penry. He served his country proudly in the Texas National Guard and was a member of First Baptist Church of Port Neches. James retired after 30 years of service as an operator for UNICAL.
Those left to cherish James’s memory are his wife of 64 years, Norma E. Sokol Penry of Port Neches; his daughter, Sandra Begnaud and her husband, Rodney of Beaumont; his sister, Mae Isbell of Beaumont; his brothers, Jerry Penry of Silsbee and Eddie Ray Penry of Houston; his grandchildren, Jason Begnaud, Mark Irvine, Keith Irvine, Sr., Jeremy Begnaud, and Josh Begnaud; and his great-grandchildren, Keith Irvine, Jr., Ryland Begnaud, Hunter Irvine, Kinsley Irvine, Emory Begnaud, Meadow Irvine, Caroline Irvine, Otto Begnaud, and Oren Begnaud. He is preceded in death by his parents and his daughter, Carol Irvine.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 11, 2019 at Melancon’s Funeral Home in Nederland. Funeral services will be held at Melancon’s Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 12, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. with interment to follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches.
