James Edward Prescott, Jr., 88, of Groves, Texas, passed away on Tuesday, February 23, 2016, surrounded by loved ones in his home after an eight month battle with lung cancer and related health concerns. Known to most as Jim, and to his grandkids as Pop, he was born in Port Arthur, Texas on March 20, 1927 to Beulah and James Prescott, Sr. James Jr., and Robyna (Robin) Prescott married on February 10, 1951, and shared the next sixty-five years together. James is a graduate of Port Arthur Thomas Jefferson High School class of 1945 and also attended Texas A&M University in College Station. He proudly served our country in the United States Army and was stationed in different European locations during World War II. In 1985 James retired from the Port Arthur Texaco Refinery completing thirty plus years of service as a pumper. For over 40 years James was an active member of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Port Neches, Texas where he assisted in multiple positions of leadership and servitude. Throughout his life he enjoyed all manner of sports and was an avid fan of his Dallas Cowboys and Houston Astros. James was preceded in death by his step-sister Mary Emily Bower, and his daughter Robin Prescott Wallace. Surviving relatives include his wife of 65 years Robyna Robin Prescott of Groves, Texas; son Kevin Prescott and wife Resa of Frisco, Texas; Kent and Mary Wallace of Port Neches, Texas; grandson Casey Wallace of Port Neches, Texas; granddaughter Josie Prescott of Frisco, Texas. A gathering of Mr. Prescott's family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Thursday, February 25, 2016, at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, 2425 Nall Street, Port Neches, Texas. His funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, February 26, 2016, at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, with burial to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Levingston Funeral Home in Groves. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of James E. Prescott, Jr., to Holy Trinity Episcopal Church for the Good News Children's Camp.

Robyna, I am so sorry to hear about James and know you will miss him greatly. How blessed you were to be married 65 years. I remember Jimmy as a little girl coming over to my house to see my older brother, John Dirk, and he always had a smile for me and my twin sister. Praying for you and your family.
