James Thomas Sarao, Sr. of Port Arthur, TX passed away on October 18, 2022, of a brief illness. James was born on May 30, 1947, in Houston, TX to Sam and Mary Mavis Sarao. He graduated from Vidor High School in Vidor, TX in 1965. He served in the United States Army from 1971 to 1973. He attended Lon Morris College in Jacksonville, Tx and the University of Houston. James worked at Murphy’s USA in Port Arthur, Tx and at HEB in Groves, TX. Since retirement, he has been a member of the Southeast Texas Veterans Service Group.

James was preceded in death by his father Sam Sarao. He is survived by his mother, Mary Mavis Sarao; his wife of 47 years, Martha Carter Sarao; his sister, Kathy Peoples and husband Charlie of Beasley, TX.; his son, James Thomas Sarao, Jr and his wife Diana of Katy, TX; his daughter Melissa Lee and her husband Wesley of Nederland, TX; four grandchildren, Michael and Shane Sarao of Katy, Tx and Wesley and Jessica Lee of Nederland, Tx; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves, TX on October 22, 2022, at 3:00 PM. A visitation will be held at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves, TX on October 22, 2022, from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. The service will be officiated by Rev. Danny Carter. Interment will follow at a later date in Houston National Cemetery in Houston, TX. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Southeast Texas Veterans Service Group.
