Dear PawPaw Honey, I know you are now in the arms of Jesus, whom I trust has brought peace to your soul and made your transition to Heaven sweet. Speaking of "sweet" (or should I say "sweets" in the plural), I'm sure that's a word us grandkids know all too well because of you... Mindy Lou Pies, Little Debbie Cakes, ice cream, and plenty of candy and cookies (not to forget yours and my 'special' shared love of Diet Coke). ...All these things bring up memories that I'll cherish forever, things that remind me of the sweetness in your heart and the generosity with which you spoiled us all, usually with a big grin on your face and a silly joke to preface or follow every gift of sweetness you gave and shared with us. It's the simple, sweet moments like that that made a difference in my life and blessed my heart (and stomach) more than you could ever know. I know you are resting peacefully in the arms of God... when you're not fishing... I know you'll always live on in spirit and continue loving us while basking in the love of God and your memories of the love we all share for you. You're an angel on our shoulders, watching over us, protecting us, and sending us all manner of good. I'm grateful you are no longer suffering and that you are no longer in pain. You've gone before us to prepare us all heavenly homes with God in which we will dwell when the time is right for each and every one of us. We will all be strong, patient and endure, as hard it may be. You are incredibly loved; just as you always have been and always shall be. I love you, PawPaw Honey. Thank you for all you have been to me and everyone of us whose lives you've touched. Tell Uncle David "We love him, too". Bask in the presence and joy of the Lord while you rest, relax, and catch some big fish. Save some corn dogs and a banana pop or two for me. In case you didn't know, you have always been one of the best men I've ever known; always there for me without fail. Words cannot convey my gratitude for the special love, silliness, and bond we shared and for all that you (and MawMaw) did for me (and us of all) growing up. Anyway, as I'd been telling you jokingly lately, silly as we aways were but sincere from the depths of my heart, I would like to close this almost the same way we closed our last conversation together: "I am still your "Teenyweeny's Teenyweeny", and you're still (forever) my "PawPaw Honey". I love you, and I know you love me, too. You look handsome. Rest well, PawPaw." Love always, Heather "Louis"
