James Robert Wise, Jr., 64, of Nederland, Texas passed away on Friday, September 24, 2021.
J.R. was born on August 31, 1957, at Lake Charles Airforce Base in Lake Charles, Louisiana to James Robert Wise, Sr. and the late Betty Jane Gay. He worked as an operator for Dupont Orange for 32 years. J.R. loved his job, and his co-workers quickly became close friends of his. J.R. had many hobbies; including, riding his Harley, building model cars, and listening to 70s Rock N’ Roll. He also loved to cook, and could make a mean margarita. J.R. loved his family, and made sure that each of his grandbabies had their own nickname. He also loved his dog, Gemma, and loved giving her belly rubs.
J.R. is survived by his father; his wife of seventeen years, Jody Wise; his children, Jeremiah Wise, Ashley Schexnayder and her husband Josh, Troy Devillier, Christie Toups and her husband Daks, Kristy McGowan and her husband Rodney, Shelly Carpenter, BJ Roberts and her husband Shane, and Jeremy Harvill; his ten grandchildren; his five great-grandchildren; his sister, Gayletta Tompkins; his nephew Chad Simmons; his niece, Alettra Hudson; and many other loving family members and friends. He is preceded in death by his mother.
A visitation will take place from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. Saturday, October 2, 2021, at Melancon’s Funeral Home in Nederland. Memorial Services will follow the visitation at 4:00 p.m.
