James “Jimmy” Wooding Sr., 87, passed away at home on Wednesday, August 8, 2018. A native of Beaumont TX, he lived in Nederland, TX for 33 years and was a former resident of Minooka Il. He was retired from Mobile Oil. He served his country proudly in the United States Air Force and was a dedicated member of Hillcrest Baptist Church. He also spent 12 years building churches with the Texas Baptist Men’s Association.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Eunice Wooding, his brother Wilmer Wooding, his sister Opal Brozozwski, and his daughter Deborah Wooding.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Ruby Katherine Wooding, two sons, James Wooding Jr. (and Matresa) of Nederland, Joe Wooding (and Sharon), of Ward, AR two daughters, Charlotte Lisenby (and David) of Nederland, TX, Pamela Brown (and Rick) of Higden, AR, 11 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at Hillcrest Baptist Church in Nederland on Thursday, August 16, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. The funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 17, 2018 at Hillcrest Baptist Church under the direction of Melancon’s Funeral Home in Nederland. Burial will follow at Pine Ridge Cemetery in Pine Ridge. Pallbearers will be his grandsons. Honorary Pallbearers will be David Lisenby and Rick Brown.
