The Jordan family moved to Houston, Texas in 1948. They attended OST Baptist Church where she met her future husband, Thomas Johnson whose family also attended. Thomas and Jane graduated from Houston’s Steven F. Austin High School in 1953. They were married at OST Baptist Church on January 30, 1954. They were married for fifty years until Thomas’s death in 2004.

Thomas and Jane served at Calvary Baptist Church in Nederland, Texas from 1975 until 2000. After Thomas’s death, Jane continued to serve at Calvary Baptist Church until 2012 when she moved to Calder Woods Buckner Retirement Community in Beaumont, Texas. For as long as she was able, Jane was an active volunteer at Calder Woods organizing the prayer ministry, playing games with shut-in residents and playing the piano for church services. Mrs. Jane will be so missed by her neighbors and friends here at Calder Woods. I enjoyed visiting with her during lunch every day, and was so appreciative of her sewing skills! She could take care of whatever problem we experienced with our clothing! She was proud of being a pastor’s wife, and mentioned it frequently. She was a beautiful lady. Rest in peace, Mrs. Jane.

I first met Mrs.Jane when her family moved to Nederland to Calvary Baptist church. Brother Tom and Jane were my spiritual mentors from the age of 13 to 22. Jane taught me how to have a "quiet time" with the Lord, which greatly impacted my life. At times Jane could come across as firm, but she truly had a compassionate heart. When she heard my sister and I couldn't afford to attend summer camp or other youth activities, Jane was on the phone reassuring us that God would never be limited by funds or lack of them. (I think she was often God's hands.) Jane was that kind of gracious, caring woman. Tom and Jane were a outstanding team. Now we can rejoice that they are together again. With love to all the family!

So sad to see that Mrs. Johnson has passed away, but I’m so happy for her. Her hope is in Christ! The Tom Johnson’s were friends of my pastor and his wife, Tom and Pat Hebert. I was blessed to share in some services at Calder Woods, and Mrs. Johnson was faithful to be there. She is missed. Prayers for her family and friends.
