Janet Smith, 87, of Nederland, Texas passed away on Sunday, October 9, 2022 in Winnie, Texas. Janet was born in Port Arthur, Texas on February 17, 1935 to the late, Wilson C. Guidry and Edith E. Ledet Guidry.

Janet was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles. She loved keeping up with her classmates and would even meet up with them for lunch on a monthly basis.

Those left to cherish Janet’s memory include her son, Charles Smith and his wife, Lisa of Nederland; daughter, Christi Murphy and her husband, Robby of Nederland; son, Brian Smith of Nederland; brothers, Ray Guidry, Richard “Dickie” Guidry and John Guidry; grandchildren, Jeremy Smith, Jason Smith, Joshua Murphy, Meagan Hillsten, Briana Courmier and Jacob Smith; great-grandchildren, Veston Smith, Silas Smith, Emma Murphy, Addie Murphy, Daylan Courmier, Dalayna Courmier, and Destynee Courmier.

Janet is preceded in death by her parents, Wilson C. Guidry and Edith E. Ledet Guidry, her loving husband of 63 years, Jackson H. “Jackie / Goggle Eye” Smith and her brother, Wilson “Put” Guidry.

A gathering of family and friends will be held at Melancon’s Funeral Home in Nederland, Texas on Thursday, October 13, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. with the funeral service to begin at 12:00 p.m. The Reverend Kevin Kissel will officiate the service. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Nederland, Texas.
