Janette Owen Eichler

1939 ∼ 2010

On February 19 2010, Janette Owen Eichler was called home to take a seat next to her Lord. Janette was born September 23, 1939 in Port Arthur, Texas to the late George R. and Ola M. Owen and was a life- long resident of Port Arthur. She graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1957 where she was a proud member of the Maroon and Gold Band. Following high school, she attended Port Arthur College and married Emmett A. "Pete" Eichler in 1958 and began raising her family. She was a retired Legal Law Librarian from the Provost-Umphrey Law Firm. Janette enjoyed working in her yard, collecting antiques, traveling, reconnecting with old high school friends and a variety of other interests. But most importantly, she was a devoted grand- mother to her "babies" which she deeply adored. The sight of her grandchildren always put a smile on her face and warmed her heart and she spared no expense in spoiling them. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 22, 2010 at The United Methidist Temple in Port Arthur with Reverend Jesse Brannen officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park. A visitation for family and friends will be Sunday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves. Janette is survived by her former spouse and friend, Pete Eichler of LaBelle, TX. Sons; Scott Eichler and his wife, Rebecca of Port Arthur, TX., Dale Eichler and his wife, Karen of Vidor, TX. Grandchildren; Nicholas Barras - 30 of Spring, TX., Alec - 16 and Rebecca Michelle - 12 both of Port Arthur, Colton - 12 of Inez, TX. and the newest edition to the Eichler family, Caleb - 2 of Vidor. She is also survived by a host of cousins and very dear friends. She will always be remembered as a loving daughter, mother, friend, Gami and MeMe and will be deeply missed by everyone. Friends wishing to make memorial contributions may send them to: The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation or The American Heart Association.

I grew up next door to Janette and have fond memories of her babysitting my brothers and I on many occasions. I also can still see her in her band uniform standing in front of her house waiting to go to the football game. My condolences to her sons and their families. My GOD bless you in your time of loss.
