Janice Marie Goodman
Janice Marie Goodman, 64, of Groves, Texas, passed away Sunday, December 25, 2022, peacefully at her home.
There will not be a funeral or memorial; however, Janice's wishes were in line with those of her sister Debora's.
She was born in Mobile, Alabama, on September 29, 1958, to Massey B. Goodman and Mary Ann Walton Goodman. Janice was a free spirit and everyone's comic relief. She was the youngest child and definitely the "wild one"! If you knew Janice, you knew that she loved doing for others. And because of her generous demeanor, we all knew that she never met a stranger. She loved being outdoors, traveling, spending quality time with her family and friends, drinking a cold beer, encouraging others, and laughing over the humors of life. Janice lived her life the way she wanted to — vibrantly and to the very fullest until the day she joined her life partner, Steve Shelnut, “Mama and Daddy”, and sister Debora in Heaven. She loved her family and friends with her whole heart. We will miss her so much. We love you, Janice.
Janice is survived by her big sister, JoAnn Rutledge and husband Tom of Bastrop/Port Neches, Texas, nephews, Nathan Rutledge and wife Ashleigh, their children, Nolan, Natalie, and Addison of Houston, Texas, and John Rutledge of Lumberton, Texas, his children, Ava and Colton of Belton, Texas, and niece, Alora Mery and husband Stephen of Austin, Texas, grandsons, Arron Shelnut and Arturo Cibrian of Port Arthur, Texas, granddaughters, Jaymi Star Shelnut and Alissa Shelnut of Port Arthur, Texas, son, Jamie Shelnut of Port Arthur, Texas, daughter in law, Shawnna Philpott of Port Arthur, Texas, sister in law, Brenda Seaux of Port Arthur, Texas, daughter in law, Amanda Box of Riesel, Texas, friend, Eddie Sample of Port Arthur, Texas, and dogs Tricks and Cali.
In lieu of flowers, please keep in touch with your parents, your family, your old friends, an older person, or a neighbor because they may need a friend to call them. Go by and visit or ask them out for coffee/drinks or for a meal. They may be lonely. She would want you to celebrate her life in the way you wish to.
