Jean Carruth Andrews

Jean Andrews was born in Hico, Texas October 30, 1925 to John and Della Carruth. She passed away on September 24, 2013 in Beaumont Texas at Baptist Hospital. Jean was married to Bubba Andrews for over 60 years. He was the love of her life. They resided in Port Arthur until 2007, when they moved to Orange to live closer to their daughter. She belonged to the Methodist Temple for more than 60 years and when they moved to Orange, they joined the First Methodist Church. She retired from Gulf States Utilities Company in 1985. Jean and Bubba spent many a happy time at their camp in Burkville enjoying their grandsons and enjoying life. They traveled with Sunni's tours every time there was an opportunity. Those left to cherish her memories are her daughter, Pat Geis and son-in-law, Earl. Her 3 grandsons and their wives, Cort and Chrys Geis, Brandon and Jaimie Geis, and Joey and Joslynn Geis. Her 3 great-grand children, Clayton, Carson, and Riley Geis and the newest addition to the family, due in December, identity not yet known. She was also blessed with a special son Ken Whitlow and his wife Becky and 3 adopted granddaughters Michelle, Taylor and her namesake Kali Jean Whitlow. She was preceded in death by her great grandson Jake Geis, her 3 brothers Aubrey, Kenneth, and Elmer Carruth and her 2 sisters and sidekicks Aline Denbo and Thelma Jordon. Pallbearers will be Ken Whitlow, Buddy Jordan E.C. Carruth, Cort Geis, Brandon Geis and Joey Geis Honorary pallbearers will be Clayton, Carson and Riley Geis. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday September 28, 2013 at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves with Reverend John E. Warren officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park. A visitation for family and friends will be held Friday evening from 5:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

I am so sorry to hear about the passing of such a sweet lady. Miss Jean hired me at GSU back in 1974 which started my 21 years at GSU. I am now retired but I thought about her so often through the years. She will be missed.
