He was born in Port Arthur on September 4, 1956 to the late Henry James Hopkins and JoAnn Comeaux.Funeral services will be held at Melancon39s Funeral Home, 1605 Avenue H in Nederland on Wednesday, January 18, 2012 at 10:00 a.m., with Mr. Art Mobley officiating. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves, Texas. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at the funeral home.Jeff is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his sisters, Judy Denise Perkins of Port Neches, and Linda Gale Mobley and husband Art of Coco, FL two brothers, Randall David Hopkins of LaBelle, and Richard Glenn Hopkins and wife Lisa of Nederland and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Note to Jeffs family,I knew Jeff for over forty years. We have known each other since 9th grade. As hardheaded as he was, and that matched the rough exterior he tried to portray, he had a pure heart of gold for others. I knew him well, and know that there will always be a special place in my heart for Jeff, and Ill remember our relationship fondly. May his free spirit and love for his close friends and family be a cherished memory of him forever.
