Jerry W. Covington passed from this life Thursday, November 28, 2013 at 7:30am at the age of 82. He was born in Beaumont, Texas on November 27, 1931 to Wilmer Covington and Lucille Clark Gager. He lived in the Beaumont/Port Arthur area for 77 years and resided in Georgetown, Texas the last 5 years. He retired from Mobil Chemical Company after 37 years of service. He was a member of Stonegate Church of Christ in Port Arthur, where he served as an Elder for 20 years. He lived and served joyfully to receive the crown of life that has been promised to the faithful. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Covington of Georgetown, Texas; two sons Steve Covington of Florida and Kenneth Covington and his wife Shelley Covington of Georgetown; his daughter Jan Droptini and her husband Jerry Droptini of Leander, Texas; his brother Don Covington and wife Claire Covington of Orange, Texas; his 5 granddaughters Jenifer Orthober, Julie Hudson, Crystal Shutt, Janis Beard, and Dana Taylor; his grandson Jordan Covington; and 6 great grandchildren and many other family members and loved ones. Jerry was known and loved by all who knew him. A man of many talents and abilities. Most of all, he was known for his strong faith in God. He lived his life in such a way as to be ready for the very hour. The viewing will be at Stonegate Church of Christ on Sunday, December 1st from 1:00 pm 2:00pm and the service following immediately at 2:00 pm at the church under the direction of Levingston Funeral Home Port Neches.
