Jerry William Sheridan
Jerry William Sheridan, 86, of Port Arthur, Texas, passed away on Sunday, July 2, 2023.
Funeral services will be at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 6, 2023, at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves. Officiating will be Jeff Trahan. Burial will follow on Friday, July 7, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at Pilgrim Cemetery in Elkhart, Texas.
Visitation will be prior to the service from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Thursday, July 6, 2023, at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves.
Jerry was born in Elkhart, Texas, on August 15, 1936, to William Ernest Sheridan and Myrtle Rainey-Sheridan. He graduated from Elkhart High School in 1954 and later attended Nixon Business College. He worked as a laboratory shift supervisor at the Texaco Refinery Product Control Lab in Port Arthur before retiring after thirty-eight years of service in 1996. Jerry and Martha Lynn Sheridan were married in 1956 in Palestine, Texas. Together they raised two children: Sherry Ann and Beverly Faye. He was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and uncle. He loved spending time with his family, hunting, fishing, shooting, and collecting firearms, and football. His selflessness, kindness, and willingness to help others were without limitation.
He was preceded in death by his wife of forty-eight years; his daughter, Sherry Ann Hales; grandson, Andrew Scott Hales; granddaughter, Heather Dawn Hales; brothers, John Sydney Sheridan, and Jake Sheridan; and sisters, Joan Wright, and Dollye Sheridan Jeffus.
He is survived by his daughter, Beverly Faye Meyer of Houston, Texas; brother, Jim Sheridan of Tyler, Texas; grandchildren, Leonard Colin Hales of Nashville, Tennessee; Isla Hales Landry and husband David of Lumberton, Texas; Holly Sheridan Hales of Houston, Texas; Kyle Charles Hales and wife Lauren of Bridge City, Texas; Lacey Meyer Moravek and husband Luke of Houston, Texas; and Tara Sue Welch of Tyler, Texas; great-grandchildren, Mayson William Landry, Alyson Ann Landry, Isaac David Landry, Christina Mae Edwards, Michael Edwards Jr., Chloe Edwards, and Kamden Hales.
