     Jerry J. Smith, a beloved homemaker and pillar of her community, passed away on Monday, January 29, 2024, in Port Neches, Texas. Born on July 12, 1939, in Fastrill, Texas, Jerry lived a remarkable life filled with love and devotion for her family and friends.

     Jerry was a dedicated member of Seventh Street Baptist Church in Nederland for over 55 years and will forever be remembered for her christian faith as well as being an avid homemaker who took great pride in creating a warm and welcoming environment for her loved ones. Whether it was preparing delicious home-cooked meals or ensuring that every special occasion was celebrated with joy and laughter, Jerry's attention to detail and thoughtfulness were unmatched. She had a remarkable ability to never forget a birthday or anniversary, making everyone feel cherished and loved.

     Family was at the center of Jerry's universe. She was deeply committed to the wellbeing and happiness of her loved ones. After marrying the love of her life, Harold Q. Smith, they embarked on a journey together that spanned an impressive 63 years. During this time, they built a strong foundation of love and support that served as an inspiration to all those around them.

     Jerry's parents, Daniel and Christine Brown, held a special place in her heart. Their guidance and unconditional love shaped Jerry into the remarkable woman she became. She cherished the memories they created together and carried their legacy within her.

     In addition to her husband and parents, Jerry is preceded in death by her brother, Kenneth Brown. His passing left an indelible void in her life but also served as a constant reminder of the importance of cherishing every moment spent with loved ones.

     Jerry is survived by her sons, Dean Smith and his wife, Michelle of Nederland, Texas, and Lynn Smith also of Nederland; sister, Carolyn Vickers, and her husband, Earl of Georgetown, Louisiana; brother, Danny Brown, also of Georgetown, Louisiana; and her grandsons, Chandler Smith and Austin Smith, both of Nederland.

     Outside of her commitment to family, Jerry had a love for reading that knew no bounds. She could often be found engrossed in a book, immersing herself in far-off worlds and captivating stories. This passion for literature served as both an escape and a source of inspiration throughout her life.

     The loss of Jerry J. Smith leaves a void that can never be filled. Her remarkable kindness, unwavering love for family and friends, and dedication to creating lasting memories will forever be cherished by all those who had the privilege of knowing her.

     A gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday, February 10, 2024, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Melancon~Levingston Funeral Home located at 1605 Avenue H in Nederland, Texas. This will be followed by a Funeral Service beginning at 2:00 p.m. at the same location. Interment will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial park in Port Neches, Texas.

     Jerry will live on through the cherished memories she leaves behind. May her soul find eternal peace as we remember and celebrate her remarkable life that touched so many hearts.
