Jerry L. Thompson, 86, of Port Neches, Texas went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, October 25, 2021 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Jerry was born on October 4, 1935 in Port Arthur, Texas to the late, Sedric Earl Thompson and Eva Wilkerson Thompson.
Jerry was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He loved talking about and sharing his love for the Lord with others. He volunteered with Community Care Prayer Outreach and spent many hours within Nursing Homes and even inside Prison Walls sharing his love of Jesus. Jerry also loved spending time growing roses, hunting and fishing. He loved everything that had to do with Western Cowboys and even spent time riding bulls in his younger days.
Jerry is preceded in death by his parents, Sedric Earl Thompson and Eva Wilkerson Thompson; his daughter, Lori Broussard; and his brothers, Charles and Earl Thompson.
Those left to cherish Jerry’s memory are his loving wife of 64 years, Loretta Thompson of Port Neches; daughters, Julie Avery and her husband, Thomas of Grand Blanc, MI, Chrisie Spears and her fiancé, Blake Whisenhunt of Groves; grandchildren, Kaelyn Sweet and her husband, Nathan, Chloe Franklin and Jayden Franklin; one great grandchild, Clara Avery and one sister, Janelle Colville.
A catered gathering to celebrate Jerry’s life will be held on Saturday, November 13, 2021 from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at 2314 2nd Street, Port Neches, Texas. Catering will be provided by Billy Joe’s Barbeque in Port Neches.
