Jessie Marian Benson, Jr.

Jessie Marian �Jess� Benson, Jr., 84, a long time Groves Resident died September 3, 2011 of colon cancer just 11 days short of his 85th birthday. Jessie was born in Call, Texas on September 14, 1926. He was retired from K-Mart where he was known as the Bicycle Man. His parents, Alma Fay Benson and Jessie Marian Benson preceded him in death as well as his two sisters, Helen Fay Benson Rogers and Velma Louise Benson Guill, a brother George Weldon Benson a niece Alice Wendel and a nephew Samuel M. Rogers, Jr. Jessie is survived by a brother Daniel Leslie Benson of Beaumont, two nephews Russell E. Guill, Jr. and Steve Guill of Centerpoint and three nieces Vivian Skillman of Beaumont, Linda Priest of Lumberton, Mary Lou Etchison of Kerrville and Melinda Benson of Beaumont. The family gratefully recognizes Pam Sharp of Groves and Billy Wichter for their love, support, care and friendship towards Jessie, Jr. Services will be held on Tuesday September 6, 2011 at 10:00 am at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves with Pastor Phillip Baugh of the Rock Assembly of God Church officiating assisted by Pastor Thomas Welch of Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church of Port Arthur. . A visitation for family and friends will be held Monday from 5:00 pm. to 7:00 pm. Burial will follow at Trout Creek Cemetery in Newton County at 2:00 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to the Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church of Port Arthur, Tx. , The Rock Outreach Center of Port Arthur, Tx. or the American Cancer Society
