Jessie E. "Mom" Spikes, 77, of Port Arthur, Texas passed away Wednesday, December 19, 2012 at Christus Dubuis Hospital. Jessie was born June 27, 1935 to Otto Powell and Gladys Hester Powell. She was a lifelong Port Arthur resident and member of Groves First Baptist Church. She was a homemaker and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Dean Spikes. Survivors include her five sons, Jay Spikes and wife Wendy of Groves, James Spikes of Port Arthur, John Spikes and wife Kathy of Groves, Jeffrey Spikes and wife Odessa of Groves, Jerry Spikes and wife Vanessa of Bridge City; twelve grandchildren, Tiffany, Kaci, Jerin, Tyler, Brian, Lanna, Jacob, Whitney, Hannah, Haley, Chloe, Angel; two great-grandchildren and two cats. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, December 23, 2012 at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves with Reverend Charles Miller officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Saturday evening from 5:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
