Jettie Myrteil Sherley, 89, of Groves, Texas passed away Wednesday, May 2, 2012. Myrteil was born January 7, 1923 in Stryker, Texas to Jettie Smith and Alma Sirman Smith. She was a resident of Groves for 62 years and longtime member of First Baptist Church of Groves. Myrteil was an avid gardener and her beautiful yard earned her the honor of receiving "Groves Yard of the Month". She was an inspiration to her Faith Class at First Baptist Church of Groves. Loved by many and missed by all. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Foy Leo Sherley. Survivors include her daughter, Mary Beach of Port Neches; three sons, Marshall Sherley and wife, Sandra of Mauriceville, Michael Sherley and wife, Evelyn of Leander, Mark Sherley and wife, Gay of The Woodlands; brother, A. J. Smith of Spring; nine grandchildren, Elizabeth Sparks, Kenneth Beach, Todd Sherley, Amanda Braus, Jody Jeanis, Lyndsey Sherley, Casey Sherley, Emily Sherley, Luke Sherley; and twelve great-grandchildren. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, May 4, 2012 from 5:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 5, 2012 at First Baptist Church of Groves with Reverend Charles Miller Dr. Joe Worley officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
