Jewel Nancy Carruth

Jewel Nancy Carruth, 100, of Port Arthur, Texas passed away Thursday, January 13, 2011 at Harbor Hospice in Beaumont, Texas. Jewel was born December 22, 1910 in Vernon Parish, Louisiana to Newton Jasper Bivens and Mable Wright Bivens. She was a resident of Port Arthur for 75 years and longtime member of the United Methodist Temple. Survivors include her daughter, Judy Harris and husband, Aubert "Bud" Harris of Beaumont; son, Wayne Carruth and wife, Eva Carruth of Colmesneil; sisters, Inez Franklin of Beaumont and Eloise Brannan of Shreveport, LA; nine grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren, and 16 great-great grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 15, 2011 at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves, Texas with Reverend Harold Jones officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday evening from 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
