Jewel Lois Graham Gil, a cherished member of the Groves community, passed away on January 20, 2025, at the age of 85. Born on January 30, 1939, in Groves, she dedicated her life to family and service.
Jewel served as a secretary for the Jefferson County constable's office, where she worked diligently for nine years. Her commitment to her profession reflected her strong work ethic and dedication to the community she loved.
Jewel is survived by her sons, Michael Gil and his wife, Debbie, and Russell Gil and his wife, Amy, all residing in Groves. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Jacob Gil, Aubrey Gil, Annie Gil, and Haydon Aguirre, along with her great-granddaughter, Marceline Aguirre.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Donald Gil, with whom she shared 63 years of marriage. Jewel was also preceded by her parents, Gillam and Jewel Graham, and her brothers, Raymond, R.C., and Ronald Graham.
A visitation will be held in her honor at First Baptist Church in Groves on Friday, January 24, 2025, beginning at 10:00 AM, with a funeral service to follow at 11:00 AM. The church is located at 4000 Grant Avenue, Groves, TX 77619. Interment will follow church service at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches.
Jewel's warmth and love will be deeply missed, but her spirit and the memories she created will forever remain in the hearts of her family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, Jewel's wishes were for donations to be made to the senior department and/or youth program at First Baptist Church in Groves.
The family would like to extend their gratitude toward Compassion Hospice, along with Maria Romero, her beloved caregiver and newly cherished friend.
