Jewel Edwina Phillips

Jewel Edwina Phillips, 87, of Groves, passed away Wednesday, February 01, 2017 in Nederland, TX. Jewel was born March 1, 1929 in Spurger, TX, to the late Alfred Bradford Odom and Josephine Ramer Odom. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Groves, TX.

Jewel is survived by her sons, Ronnie Phillips and wife, Barbara of Groves, TX and Gary Phillips and wife, Emelda of Port Arthur, TX; daughters, Jessie Douglas of Groves, TX and Debbie Jo Gautreaux and husband, Brian Pemberton of New Iberia, LA; 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Joe Bailey Phillips and son, Rodney Charles Phillips.

There will be a gathering of family and friends on Saturday, February 4, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. with a funeral service to follow at 11:00 a.m. at Melancon’s Funeral Home, located at 1605 Avenue H in Nederland, TX. The graveside service will be Saturday, February 4, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Turner Branch Cemetery, located at FM 1013 in Spurger, TX, with the Rev. Dr. Joe Worley officiating.
