Jewel Fountain Root

Jewel Fountain Root, 90, of Nederland, passed away on Sunday, December 24, 2017 in Nederland. Jewel was born in Port Neches on April 25, 1927 to the late, Russell Fountain and Ruth Sweeney Fountain.
Jewel is survived by her daughter, Brenda Lefebvre and husband Paul of Beaumont; sons, Allen Root and wife, JoAnn of Burton, Texas, Ronny Root and wife, Glennell of Nederland, Ricky Root and wife, Sylvia of Nederland and Randy Root and wife, Melanie of Nederland; sister, Joyce Moss of Beaumont; 10 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Jewel is preceded in death by her loving husband of 53 years, Allen James Root; daughter, Sandra Kay Root and two brothers, Ray and Keith Fountain.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at Melancon’s Funeral Home in Nederland on Saturday, December 30, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
The funeral service will be at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, December 31, 2017, also at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches.
