Jimmie C. Smith, 87, of Groves, Texas passed away Monday, June 23, 2014. Jimmie was born May 17, 1927 in Port Arthur, Texas to James W. Peoples and Sarah Catherine Thorne Peoples. She was a lifelong area resident and member of First Baptist Church of Groves. Jimmie retired from Port Neches-Groves ISD after 17 years of service as a cafeteria worker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo Earl Smith, one brother, three sisters, one granddaughter and two great-granddaughter. Survivors include two daughters, Leah Catherine Belaire of Port Neches, Barbara Ann Patxot of Groves; two sons, Donald Earl Smith and wife Noris of Spring, Michael M. Smith and wife Alida of Fannett; two sisters, Sarah Johnson and husband Clem of Lufkin, Alma Ruth Walters of Longview; one brother, J. W. Peoples and wife Eunice of Carter Lake, IA; ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 28, 2014 at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves with Dr. Joe Worley officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park. A visitation for family and friends will be Friday evening from 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Special thank you to April, Lisa, and Dana at April's House of Angels in Port Neches.
