Jimmy L. Simmons, 78, of Beaumont, passed away Friday, April 30, 2021. Jimmy was born June 11, 1942 in Ennis, Texas to Leldon and Mary Simmons. Jimmy served in the United States Army and retired three years ago as a safety coordinator for several companies. Jimmy was a great husband, father and grandfather. He served on the Board of Directors at The Senior Citizens Center and enjoyed grocery shopping at various stores. Jimmy also coached a junior league football team in the area and a little league baseball team in Garland, Texas.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, Leldon Eugene Simmons and Mary Helen Rogers Simmons; and a sister, Cecilia Bevins.
Those left behind to cherish Jimmy’s memory are his wife of 55 years, Mary Simmons of Beaumont, TX; son, Rodney Simmons of Houston, TX; and daughter, Amy Gill of Beaumont, TX; grandchildren, Michael Simmons, Justin Simmons, Ashley Gill and Matthew Gill.
A graveside service for Mr. Simmons will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 5, 2021, at Serenity Mausoleum with Oak Bluff Memorial Park; 601 Block St., Port Neches, TX 77651.
