Joan M. Geoffroy

1935 ∼ 2025

Joan M. Geoffroy

Joan M. Geoffroy, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on February 5, 2025, in Port Arthur, Texas, at the age of 90. Born on January 7, 1935, in Vinton, Louisiana, Joan devoted much of her life to her family and her profession as a medical technologist at Mid-Jefferson Hospital.

A person of great faith and conviction, Joan was an active member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, where she found solace and community. Her warmth and kindness left a lasting impression on those who had the pleasure of knowing her. Joan’s personality shone brightly, reflecting her love for life and those around her.

Joan's family was the pride and joy of her life. She is survived by her loving daughters, Lori George of Port Neches and Nancy Hamby and her husband Garry of Nederland, and her sons, Gary Geoffroy and his wife Rhonda of Port Neches, and Craig Geoffroy and his wife Lisa of Port Neches. Joan took great pride in being a grandmother to her grandchildren: Kristen Abshire (Griffin), Adam George, Shea Bledsoe (David), Kyler Geoffroy (Eric Gonzaba), Bradley Geoffroy (Carley), Kade Geoffroy, Morgan Desmond (Aaron), Keegan Geoffroy, and Madison Hamby (Fiancé Brent Hardisty). Her heart swelled with joy at the sight of her great-grandchildren, Tatum Feldschau (Fiancé Peyton Proenza), Finley Abshire, Piper Bledsoe, Dylan Bledsoe, Aisen Desmond, and Sadie Desmond, whom she adored dearly.

Joan was known for her light-hearted spirit and enjoyed leisure time playing the slots, creating cherished memories with family and friends. Above all, her proudest accomplishments were the strong bonds she nurtured with her family—fostering a loving home filled with laughter and support.

Joan was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 61 years, Roland Geoffroy, as well as her parents, Elton and Velma Chiasson, and her brother, James Chiasson. The love she shared with her family and the legacy she leaves behind will endure, reminding all who knew her of the profound impact she had on their lives.

Joan M. Geoffroy will be deeply missed, but her spirit will remain forever in the hearts of her family and the many lives she touched throughout her journey

I was so sorry to hear about Joan's passing. I worked with Joan at Mid-Jeff Hospital. It was my first lab job after college and she was so patient and kind with me. She brought the most wonderful Dirty Rice to our lab luncheons. What a sweet lady!

To the Geoffroy children - we are so very sorry for your loss. Joan was a special person to everyone she met, and she made everyone feel special. I will definitely miss our annual luncheon dates at a local restaurant to celebrate our January birthdays. RT said it best - "She was a nice lady". We are thinking of all of you - RT & Judy (Charles' sister & brother-in-law)

Tearfully, please forgive my mistake “God test her …”; i meant “God Rest her precious and beautiful soul.”

Joan was a neighbor, older than me, whom I greatly admired. She was an inspiration to me as a Christian woman. I moved away in the ‘90’s and missed seeing her. God test her precious soul. Condolences to all. Keep your memories close to your hearts.

I spent a lot of time at Aunt Joan's house when I was young from sitting at the kid's table for holiday meals to getting medical attention when I got hurt. She was always patching me up from getting fish hooks out from my leg or removing what I stepped on that day. The holiday dinners at her home had some of the best food I have ever eaten from the rice and gravy to the chocolate chip cookies. She had a way of making me believe those were always on the menu for me.

The Geoffroy house was like a second home to me. From Mrs. Geoffroy’s wonderful homemade chocolate chip cookies, Mimi‘s hot toddy cough syrup, and rearranging the formal living room furniture to practice cheerleader jumps. I hold those memories tight, prayers to the family for your loss, she was a special woman.
