Joe H. Canizales, Sr., 85, of Groves, Texas passed away September 11, 2018. He was born in Cameron, Texas on March 12, 1933 to the late Pablo Canizales and Domitila Hinojosa Canizales. Joe retired as a supervisor with Onyx and was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Port Arthur.

Those left to cherish his memory are his sons, Joe Canizales, Jr. and his wife, Susan of Port Neches, Johnnie Canizales and his wife, Linda of Groves, and Steve Canizales of Beaumont; his daughters, Sandra Perez and her husband, Donald of Castroville, Rosalinda Thomas of Florence, Kentucky, Aran Rapsch of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Elizabeth Batchelor and her husband, Ron of Vidor; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren,; his sisters, Amelia Daniels and her husband, Lupe, Isabel Flores, and Susie Marcum and her husband, Al; and his brothers, Paul Canizales, Arthur Canizales and his wife, Nena, and Rudy Canizales and his wife, Pam. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Elisa; his son-in-law, Louis M. Landry; his sisters, Mary Esquivel, Alice Berry, and Rosie Hinson; and his brother, George Canizales.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Friday, September 14, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary being recited at 5:00 p.m. at Melancon’s Funeral Home in Nederland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Port Arthur on Saturday, September 15, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens of Jefferson County in Nederland.
