Joe Carter Yancey, 94, of Port Neches, Texas died Monday, October 15, 2018 in Groves. Joe was born March 21, 1924 in Brookeland, Texas to Dorris Clifford (D.C.) Yancey, Sr. and Maggie Horn Yancey. He was a resident of Port Neches for 73 years and a retired process operator at Neches Butane after 39 years. Joe was a member of Central Baptist Church, Port Neches, Masonic Lodge #1163 for 59 years and Port Neches Order of Eastern Star #677 for 39 years. He enjoyed spending time hunting and fishing with life long friends but most of all, with his family. Unlike most people, he enjoyed and took pride in mowing grass, especially at his camp and childhood home at the lake. He is survived by: his four daughters, Eulene Werner and husband, John; Vivian Bagwell; Neva Bennett and husband, Donald, all of Port Neches and Barbara Dore of Nederland. Grandchildren: Tommy Werner, Joel Werner and wife, Pam, Crystal Dore, Jay Dore, Maggien Charles and husband Taylor, Justin Stewart and wife, Kristen, Tyler Stewart and wife, Heather, and Kelsey Morgan and husband Josh. Great grandchildren: Bayli and Mason Werner, Hunter Dore, Dane and Jude Stewart, Drake and Cami Stewart and April Morgan. Special extended family and friends, Wallace Magana, Holly and Peyton Clark. He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Hazel Clark Yancey; parents, Dorris C. Yancey Sr. and Maggie Horn Yancey; four brothers, two sisters; granddaughter-in-law, DeAnna Viola Werner and great grandson, Dalton Werner. Visitation will be held from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 17th. at Levingston Funeral Home in Port Neches. Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 18th. at 10:00 a.m. at Central Baptist Church with his nephew, Rev. Bryan Lakey officiating. Burial will follow a brief graveside service at 2:00 p.m., at Evergreen Cemetery in Jasper, Texas.
