John A. Borne

Judge John Borne of Nederland, Texas passed away May 24, 2011 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont, Texas. He was born in Galveston, Texas on January 28, 1944 to the late John A. Jr. and Romanell Pitre Borne. He was a lifelong resident of Groves and Nederland. Judge Borne retired from Fina in Port Arthur after 18 years of service. He then ran a successful race for the Precinct 7 Justice of the Peace and served in that capacity for 23 years. He was currently serving as Municipal Judge for the City of Nederland for the last 19 years, and served his country proudly in the U. S. Army, Regiment82nd Air Born during the Vietnam Era. He was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Nederland. Judge Borne served on the Groves City Council, taught CCD at St. Peters in Groves, was past Grand Knight for Council 3491 in Groves, past President of the Nederland Chamber of Commerce, past President of the Nederland Rotary Club and also served as Commissioner for Drainage District 7.A gathering of family and friends will be held at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Nederland from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with rosary being recited at 7:30 p.m. presided by the Knights of Columbus on Thursday, May 26, 2011. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church on Friday, May 27th at 10:00 a.m., Father David Placette celebrant.He is survived by his wife, Kathy Borne of Nederland motherinlaw, Tila Flores of Nederland daughters, Kim Borne Jackson of Port Neches, and Monica Hodges and husband Scott of Pearland son, Darin Borne and wife Kellie of Fannett sister, Sylvia Hebert of Houston brothers, Butch Borne and wife Sandy of Groves, Thad Borne and wife Wanda of Port Arthur, and Joe Borne and wife Karen of Groves and 7 grandchildren, Kayla Borne, Lyndi Borne, Randy Jackson, Cutter Jackson, Noah Jackson, Eva Hodges, and William Lane Hodges.Memorial contributions can be made to the Allan Fetters Center, 4601 Main Avenue, Groves, Texas 77619.
