John L. Allen 86, of Groves passed away at his residence on Friday December 20, 2013. John was born on September 28, 1927 in Hope Arkansas to James Gordon Allen and Alma Smith Allen. He was a resident of Groves for 63 years and a retired Operator from Gulf Oil with 33 years of service and a member of the St. Charles Knights of Columbus in Nederland. He was a U.S. Navy veteran. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday December 26, 2013 with a Rosary at 6:00 pm at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves. Funeral services will be held on Friday December 27, 2013 at Brazzel Oak Crest Funeral Home in Hope, Arkansas. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in Hope, Arkansas. John was preceded in death by his wife Gloria Lummus Allen; six brothers Harvey Allen, James Allen, Willie Allen, Homer Allen, Chester Allen, Lonnie Allen and four sisters Lucy Barnes, Ludy Stewart, Dorothy White and Alma Sanders. John is survived by three daughters Janice Ducote of Groves, Theresa Eatherly and husband Steve of Houston, Texas and Mary Ann Rhinebolt and husband John of Virginia Beach, Virginia; two sons Don Allen and wife Barbara of Tyler, Texas and Gary Allen of Houston, Texas; one sister Princess Jean Allen Myers; twelve grandchildren Shana, Valerie, Brad, Adam, Garrett, Clayton, Joshua, Johnathan, Joel, Kristin, Racheal , Jessica and fourteen great grandchildren. A special thanks to Altus Hospice and Home Health Care and the special care from April.

I'm sorry to hear of the loss of your loved one. He was always cheerful when he was helping Theresa at adoptions. I think he enjoyed seeing the dogs and seeing people as they came and went. You're in my thoughts. Julie
