John Ethan “J.E.” Barnett, 90, of Nederland, died Sunday, February 2, 2014 at his resident in Nederland.

Funeral Services will be 2:00 PM Thursday, February 6, 2014 at Melancon’s in Nederland with Rev. Eric Coley officiating with the interment to follow at Memory Gardens in Nederland. A gathering of the family and friends will be from 5 to 8 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.

John was born January 9, 1924 to the late D.E. and Nolia Barnett in Nederland. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force and Retired after 20 years of service. He also retired from the U.S. Postal Service with 18 years as a Postal Carrier in Nederland.

John was preceded in death by his wife, Agnes Barnett. He is survived by his son, John Barnett and his wife Kim of Nederland; his brother, Buck Barnett of Minnesota; his grandchildren, Heather Mize and her husband Tommy, Johnathon Barnett, Tess Hill, Sydney Barnett, and John Keithan Barnett; his great-grandchildren, Kyleigh Mize, and Dalton Mize; also numinous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to give a special thanks to the River City Hospice for the care giving to the family at their time of need.
