It’s been over ten years since you’ve passed Paw and still I vividly remember our long talks of life, family and of course we shared a love of history, especially the Civil War. People talk of doing things when they find the time but John always made the time, he loved to go and stand where battles were fought during the civil war and made vacations later in life after he retired to do just that and he would always go on these historical site tours. I remember sitting literally hours listening and talking about wars and history. He was very passionate about things he liked and loved such as his family and I truly appreciated being one of the lucky people to have known him and will always remember the kindest this man had in his heart that he shared with everyone he came in contact with. No one is perfect in this world but John strived in committing himself to do just that, or as close as he possibly could. I will always consider myself to be a lucky man having had this man in my life, family and heart. I find myself thinking of him and how disappointed in this country he would be if he were still with us, and believe me he would have already figured out what should be done to get this country back on track. He was so concerned in the way things were going and he would always tell me look it up in the book and of course we knew what he meant by the book, the Bible of course. He would always say all answer are in that book if you’d take the time to find it, but believe me John had all verses memorized word for word. John was always active in his church and often taught Sunday school classes, and a great teacher of the Good Book John was. RIP Paw, I will always carry you in my heart and in my soul and we will always cherish the time we had with you and we’ll hopefully see you again one day.

I was so glad to have had some recent time with Mr. John recently, when his daughter Sheree and his sister Nellie and I had break at IHop together. He seemed to be all about family to me, in those times when I would visit him with Nell. His kids and grandkids knew they could rely on him to be there when needed. My son and I were fascinated with the models he had. My real knowledge of him was through Nell, the care her younger brother had for her their closeness, his concern for her, comments to and teasing of her. I know how much he will be missed.

Ive written and erased a dozen things here. I could never fit into one text box what he means to me. All I can say is my grandfather was, is and will always be the greatest man Ive ever known. And I cant wait for the day I hear him call me quotBaby Girlquot again.

Sheree, Kevin, Dale and family: I was so saddened to hear about the loss of your daddy. I loved Uncle John and have fond memories of him sharing stories over a cup of coffee with daddy. He was a very loyal family man and I know he will be missed. Thankfully he is no longer in pain and resting in the loving arms of our Lord and Savior. We love you all very much Kerry, Pam, and Danielle

John sure loved his high school football, an amazing memory of games from years back and he was an absolute historian on the Civil War, I loved to hear his stories when we worked together at B F Goodrich.. Rest In peace John and well all see you soon.
