John Robert Ellis
John Robert “Bobby” Ellis passed away on December 7, 2022, peacefully at his home at the age of 92.
Visitation will be held at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Monday, December 12th.
A Graveside Service will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves at 2:30 p.m.
Bobby was born March 2, 1930, in Port Arthur to Johnnie O and Willie Mae Ellis. He graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1949 and attended Texas A&M University. On July 11th, 1952, he married the love of his life Claudette Morgan Ellis. He was a designer at Dupont in Orange and worked there for thirty-five years retiring in 1987 at the age of fifty-seven. During his lifetime he had many other side projects and hobbies including building a 31’ Sailboat, a Lake Cabin at Toledo Bend and numerous other wood working projects that he loved so much. He was also an avid hunter and loved to spend time at the Deer Lease with friends. He was a member of First United Methodist of Groves and later Aledo United Methodist.
He is survived by his wife of seventy years Claudette Morgan Ellis, his son Blake Ellis and his wife Lori, his granddaughter Morgan Kidd and her husband Max, his grandson Jordan Ellis and his wife Jackie and he was most proud of his seven great- grandchildren, Tripp, Emory, Madeline, Miller, Olivia, Emma, and Stetson.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
