On April 18, 2024, the world bid farewell to a remarkable individual, John Joseph Gontarek, who passed away at Harbor Hospice in Beaumont, Texas. He was born on November 29, 1935, in Staten Island, New York.
John Joseph Gontarek led a fulfilling life characterized by hard work and dedication. He spent his professional career at ATT as an expert in installations and communications. Known for his strong work ethic, John was admired by colleagues and friends alike for his commitment to excellence.
Beyond his professional endeavors, John was a man of deep faith and spirituality. Devoted to his Church and the Rosary, he found solace and strength in his religious beliefs.
In his leisure time, John indulged in various hobbies that brought him joy and relaxation. He had a passion for restoring cars and organizing car tours. An avid duck hunter, he found peace in the great outdoors. Additionally, John participated in tours for antique cars in Louisiana and Texas, sharing his love for classic automobiles with others.
John will be greeted in his eternal home by his loving wife of 56 years, Cynthia Marie Gontarek, his mother, Viola Julia Johnson, and his brother, David Johnson.
John leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion within his family circle. He is mourned by his son, Jeffery Lynn Gontarek (Debbie) of Nederland, daughter, Julie Gontarek (Mark Buchanan) of Groves, and Joel David Gontarek (Kim Gontarek) of Port Neches.
His memory will also be cherished by grandchildren Jeremy Hebert, Jessica Gontarek, Heather Tesch, Justin Gontarek, Keeli Gontarek, Jacie Gontarek, Deb Pepper, and Alex Louviere; as well as great-grandchildren Mark Blood, Michael Louviere, Matthew Pepper, Madden Pepper, Jace Barboza, Mya Hebert, Lola Hebert, Clara Tesch, and Anya Tesch.
A Rosary will be recited at 5:00 pm Sunday, on April 21, 2024 at Groves followed by a visitation from 5:30 pm to 8:00 pm. A Mass of Christian burial will be conducted at Immaculate Conception - St. Peter the Apostle Parish in Groves on Monday, at 10:00 am, April 22, 2024.
John Joseph Gontarek's presence will be deeply missed but remembered with love and fondness by all whose lives he touched.
