John Grice

John Grice, 74, of Port Neches, Texas passed away May 7, 2021. He was born in Atlanta, Georgia on July 24, 1946 to the late Dewey John Grice, Sr. and Eva Mulkey Grice. John was a member of First Baptist Church in Port Neches, and was extremely proud to serve as a Deacon and a Sunday School teacher for over 40 years. John was a senior project engineer for Motiva where he retired after 38 years of service. After retirement, he returned to work for 5 years for his son Phillip Grice at Toulany Wong Engineering. John served his community with the Port Neches Little League and District 32 as an umpire for more than 25 years. He was a very giving soul to say the least. John would not hesitate to donate his time, efforts, money, or anything else that was needed. He was a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather. John will be truly missed.
Those left to cherish John’s memory are his wife of 54 years, Anita Vaughan Grice; his children, David Grice, Philip Grice and his wife Dearra, and Melissa Lane; his grandchildren, Callie Cloud and her husband Joseph, MacKenna Grice, Easton Grice, Mason Grice, Ian Grice and his wife Hanna, Brianna Stralla and her husband Anthony, Cordi Grice, Rosemary Grice, Katelyn Lane, and Karson Lane; his great-grandchildren, Olivia Cloud, Atticus Harper, Oliver Stralla, Penelope Stralla, and Jethro Stralla. He is preceded in death by his parents and this stepfather Hugh Mulkey.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 15, 2021 at First Baptist Church in Port Neches, with at Memorial Service being held at 11:00 a.m. with Dr. Jason Martin officiant.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in Mr. Grice’s honor be made to the First Baptist Church Port Neches Building Fund. Donations may be mailed to P.O box 36, Port Neches, Texas 77651.
