John Wesley Jenkinson, Sr., 88, of Port Arthur passed away Tuesday, February 21, 2012 at Christus St. Mary Hospital in Port Arthur. He was born October 27, 1923 in Kennedy, Texas to Stanley Jenkinson and Ann Lee Jenkinson. John was a longtime resident of Port Arthur and worked for Gulf Oil Refinery in Port Arthur prior to going to Puerto La Cruz, Venezuela in 1949 thru 1973 and later retired as a Field Engineer. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving during World War II. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 24, 2012 at Friendship Baptist Church in Groves with Reverend Wilton Golmon, Reverend Travis Cox, and Reverend Buddy Evans officiating. A visitation for family and friends will be from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the church. Burial will follow in Oak Bluff Memorial Park. He was preceded in death by his parents Stanley and Ann Lee Jenkinson; brother, Horace Jenkinson; and sister, Betty Lee Morrison. John is survived by his wife, Marian Jenkinson of Port Arthur, four sons, John Jenkinson, Jr. and wife, Marcella of Puerto Rico, Kimmie Jenkinson of Port Arthur, Randall Jenkinson of Beaumont, Jimmie Jenkinson of Port Neches, sister, Dorothy Trotman of Winston Salem, N.C., ten grandchildren, and thirteen great grandchildren.
